Apremont-sur-Allier Floral Park

In a preserved medieval village on the banks of the Allier, the 5 hectares of the Apremont floral park offers the visitor a enchanting bucolic visit. Created and opened to the public by Gilles de Brissac in 1976, this place is inspired by Vita Sackville-West's famous garden in EnglandAdorned with a pond, a babbling waterfall, lawns, groves of trees, shrubs and flowers, it also shelters "Follies" built in the spirit of the second half of the 18th centuryThese works by the painter-architect Alexandre Sérébriakoff give the place a unique character: the "Pagoda Bridge" transports visitors to China, the "Truc Pavilion" features decorations evoking the splendor of the Ottoman Empire, and the Russian-inspired "Belvedere" overlooks the river. Inside, eight panels recount the Pulcinelli family's journey around the world. True treasures, they required more than 10 years of work.

The creation and opening of the park required numerous development projects that are now invisibleSecluded and isolated from the rest of the world, this place is alive and evolves with the times: in spring, Chinese and Japanese wisteria draw us in beneath a fragrant canopy… Carefully designed, maintained, and enhanced, its discovery is accompanied by that of the stables which house a collection of 19th century carriages having belonged to the owners' family and a series of wooden models signed by the draftsman Caran d'Ache.
